      Digitalize The Waiting List!

One piece of paper that stands out as ripe for transformation is the waiting list often clipped to a stand or tied to a structure. I have a strong dislike for it, and here’s why:

      1. The handwritten names can be hard to read, creating unnecessary confusion.

      2. Think about how many people touch that list—imagine the germs it spreads.

      3. You can’t check the line’s status without going back to the clipboard, which is inconvenient.

And then there’s the weather. On cold days, I hate having to sit outside just in case they call my name. I’d much rather wait in my car to see where I am on the line from my phone.

Apps like Yelp have tried to address this issue with digital waitlist management. Yet, many restaurants stop using them after a month or two, probably because the cost doesn’t justify the perceived value.

With this in mind, I decided to customize https://restaurant.signinlink.app specifically for restaurants—focusing only on what’s essential to make it easy for customers and affordable and practical for restaurateurs.

Customers can effortlessly join the waitlist by scanning a QR code with their phone or accessing the link from anywhere. After entering their phone number, name, and the size of their party, they simply press "Sign in" The waitlist then displays their position in line, allowing them to monitor their status in real-time from any location.

For restaurants, managing the waitlist is equally simple. Staff hit the select button under Action in the Daily Activity log, automatically removing their names from the waitlist. This streamlined process keeps everyone informed, whether they’re on-site or checking from their mobile device.

I'm open to feedback and wanted to bring a bit of joy to the upcoming Chinese New Year! I created some fun and festive designs to celebrate the occasion, wishing everyone the best health, good luck and great prosperity in the year ahead. Let me know your thoughts!
